After owning a successful catering company geared toward corporate businesses, Chef Tia Cannon enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at ICE in 2003. Upon graduating, she worked in establishments in Minneapolis, France and New York City, including stalwarts Gramercy Tavern and Jean-Georges. In 2009, Chef Tia started teaching recreational classes at ICE, and in 2011, she rounded out her education and completed the Pastry & Baking Arts program. She also worked as an on-air food stylist for the “Rachael Ray Show” for two seasons. Chef Tia now shows off her multi-tasking skills at ICE, by both being a Career Services Advisor and teaching recreational classes. “The most rewarding aspects of teaching are seeing a student grasp an idea that will cause them to think differently around food, their choices and, in particular, how healing the right foods can be,” she says.
